his event gives everyone an opportunity to see for themselves the refurbishment proposals. These are the ideas which have come from the villagers, and especially the children, and take into consideration all the Health and Safety requirements, too. Come and see what the Target Group have been working towards, and give us more ideas if you feel there are gaps in the proposals.
By the time this item hits your doormat, the Teenagers should be well on the way to applying for their own funding; to equip their skate park as well as their sector of The Butts. We are all working together, to provide our village with excellent facilities for all the children to use, be they babies or teenagers. The Target group is concentrating on the play equipment, the Parish Council is assisting us with access and more functional essentials like seating, fencing and litter bins. We have specialists ensuring the requirements of the Disability Act which come into force in 2004 are included in all our plans, and we have ROSPA ensuring the Health and Safety requirements are met. So, from you, the villagers we need your support and enthusiasm to help us see this project through to a successful conclusion. It is a big task, but it can be done!

There will be plenty of preparatory ground work to be done once the designs have been agreed, the grants applied for and the new equipment ordered. We want to spend the funding we get from events and grants on the equipment itself, and need the village to help with preparation for paths, new fencing, seating, and in some cases erection of the equipment as it arrives from the manufacturers. We must do 20% ‘in kind’ for ourselves, to satisfy funding requirements and this is a Community project after all!
